Welcome to Budapest, welcome to Hungary!
My name is Kathy, I am a private tour guide in Budapest, travel guide for Hungary. I am a driver guide for sightseeing tours, and I also guide walking & bicycle tours. I am also a tourist guide for Jewish Budapest. Regular city-tour or customized tours, you will discover that Budapest and Hungary are more beautiful than you’ve thought!
I still feel enthusiasm and love for my exciting carrier. I was born and raised in the capital, Budapest, and I have been exploring its nooks and crannies since childhood. I would like to share my discoveries with you and show you the Hungary that has luckily emerged from behind the Iron Curtain…
Visitors are usually astonished by the splendid beauty of bustling Budapest, and the contrasting peacefulness of the Hungarian countryside. While showing you ”the best of” Hungary, I will tailor your tour to your particular interests. I’ll show you the life of average Hungarians. I’ll show you how we live, where we relax, eat and shop, things you won’t see on a package tour…
Visit Budapest, you will like it!
All my Budapest tours can be done by car, or by bicycle, and also, using public transport and walking. If we go to the Hungarian countryside, my car, an Opel Astra, takes 4 people. I organize tours for groups as well. If it is a group tour of several days with hotels, restaurants, coaches and entertainment, I can collablorate with my friend and partner, Suzanne

May 19/12 Our family of three had a lovely day in Budapest with Katalin. She arrived promptly and showed us all the sights. We chose a driving tour as this fitted in with our needs. The day was beautiful and sunny and Katalin was very friendly. We enjoyed the children’s railway and spectacular views over the Danube.Lorraine Canter, New Zealand

Jul 31/11 Katalin is a lovely guide and person. Her guiding is very informational yet simple enough for anybody to understand. She gives information in a way that all of us will remember for a long time to come. We would recommend her for young and young at heart alike. We had immensely enjoyed our day with her.Rita Bengyel, Hungary
Katalin: I just wanted to thank you again for a wonderful bicycling experience bicycling with you along the Danube. There were three additional bicycling opportunities on the AMA cruise and I took one of the trips a few days after cycling with you. The other ride I did was about 22 miles (36 km) and it ended in Melk. There were about 15 participants on this ride and we actually rode about as fast as the boat did – of course they were going upstream. Wendy and I hope you and your family wi…David and Wendy Epstein

May 30/11 I cannot express enough my satisfaction with what Katalin provided me with in this tour. She customized it based on my interests. In addition to seeing and learning about the places everyone needs to see, she helped me enjoy the city’s local flavors: from taking a nap in the park to sipping coffee in an off-road cafe in the old city to taking me to a local market. She did it all with a fun, and friendly attitude. So, for everyone who wants to experience Budapest at its best, I highly r…Farida Kbar, United States

Just wanted to send a sincere thank you for the wonderful two days you spent with us. You brought the city to life and we know without your observations and knowledge we would not have understood a fraction of what Budapest really means. Your suggestions for “Must Sees” on our own time were excellent. Loved the Opera house tour (definitely a must), the Great Synagogue and Szabadsag ter though wish you had been there to educate us on its significance and its amazing buildings. Dec 5/11 Katalin is a wonderful tour guide. We did a full day tour of Budapest and it was fantastic. The day was rainy, a bit cold, and overcast and we were a family group ranging in age from 13 to mid 50’s – Katalin catered the tour to the weather and the various ages. She was friendly, full of tidbits of information, and gave us a good feel for the people, history, and culture of Hungary. I would recommend Katalin in a heartbeat.Beth Renstrom, United States

Hello Cathy…. I just wanted to say thank you again for making my trip to Felsovadasz very memorable. As it turned out, it was more personal than what I expected. I remember I asked you if I could get the name and e-mail address of the lovely recorder in Felsovadasz so that I might contact her in the future. I would really appreciate that information. I have attached some of the photos taken on that trip for you to keep. Please tell Ballush (I hope I spelled that correctly) hello …Al & Jan Yenyo, United States

Hi Katalin, I wanted to send a HUGE thank you your way for the wonderful tour you gave us last Monday. We all agreed that it was the highlight of our trip and laid the groundwork for the rest of our stay. Other things we saw/heard/did the rest of the week all related back to some tidbit of information you gave us and helped us put it all in perspective. I was very sorry we didn’t get to see your son work on the Children’s Train. That is something for our next trip! Forgot to also say thank …Beth Renstrom

Dear Kathy – This is Marge Shanks. I am the petite blonde in Dr. McCann’s group that you toured this week in Budapest. Apr 9/11 Kathy met us as planned and off we went in her car. We were certainly impressed with her knowledge of the city and its history. We drove to a lot of the sites, the citadel, the old town of Buda, walked its streets, The Church, went over the chain bridge, past the Gellert Hotel and its baths. Getting a “lay out” of the city, before we were to explore it on our own the next couple of days. Then we went to the farmers market for some snacks at home. Thanks Kathy, Jeanette :)Jeanettte Behrens, United States
Jul 13/12 Katalin has it all. She is knowledgeable, warm and flexible. I told her when we met that I was particularly interested in Art Nouveau architecture and she easily put in such buildings in our tour around Budapest. She has the ability to incorporate what we see with the Hungary’s history and main events and make it come alive before your eyes. I can give her my warmest recommendations and her guiding is one reason to return to Budapest.Monica Aa. Hansen, Norway
Larry and I wanted to thank you for providing us with such a wonderful tour of Budapest during our brief visit.
